    millionaires are made

Can anyone help me with the following sentence from Cecilia Ahern's "Gift"?

Like stars in the night star which appear to the naked eye one by one, and like tiny pieces of gold revealed as they are sieved from the stream, lights go on behind the blinds an curtains in the half-light dawn. As the sky becomes starfilled and as millionaires are made, room by room, house by house, the streets begins to awaken.

    Thanks

That is indeed a puzzle. What kind of millionaires? We think of them in terms of monetary wealth. But is that what is meant here? Perhaps it is meant to be ambiguous. And who is making them?

Actually, the meaning is probably as clear to you as to me. It is a very poetic expression and not any kind of familiar idiom. Perhaps the rest of the novel will make it clear.

    Good luck.

No wonder, the novel is stupid. But I have to read it. Thanks anyway.
