    Question Grammar

Please enlighten me on the followings:-

We are open. - Is the word 'open' here an adjective?

The shop is opened. - It's a Present Passive, right?

    1. Does that mean in both context, the above are correct?

    2. Could you please give me the past tense for all the modals?

    Thank you.

"We are open" -->The present tense of "to be open". be-->is

"We are open" indicates a state.

"The shop is opened" indicates an action.

    Re: Grammar

Modals don't have a past tense.

Yes, as opposed to 'closed' where the one word performs both functions.
