    Need Help

I'm writing a comment on a photo and I'm asking about my place in the photo.
Should I say "Where am I?" or it's better to say "Where were I?" ?
I would appreciate if there is any better phrase

    Thanks

    Hi, there
If you ask where am I? you should expect an answer about where are you in the foto , for example, you are standing next to your cousin.
If you ask where was I? you should expect an answer about the place the photo was taken. It really depends on the kind of information you want to elicit.
    Hope I have been helpful,
