    Preposition

    Hi!

    Please confirm if the below mentioned sentence is correct.

    "On xx.xx.xx Mr. ABC died and the property devolved on the vendors"

    I think that it would be better if it is this way:

    "...the property devolved in the name of the vendors"

    or

    "... the property devolved onto vendors"

    Please guide as to what preposition is better or correct.

    I'm very sad to learn that nobody replied my query.It was not a homework, i work in a law firm where at occasions, we colleagues do discuss these things.Anyways,thanks.

    Try taking a look at Dictionary.com | Find the Meanings and Definitions of Words at Dictionary.com. It provides several alterative prepositions that can be used with "devolved".

    be patient.

    I am not a teacher, but for me I reckon that the following sentence sounds better: ' ...the property was devolved to vendors' or ' the property devolved on vendors' . It's seems to me nice.
