Question All Is Beautiful For One Thing

    Hi,

If I want to express the meaning of any aspects of one specified thing is OK, I would say "All is beautiful" or "All is wonderful", is this expression all right?

    Thanks.

    Everything is great.
    Everything is fine.
    Everything is wonderful.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Why don't use "All"?

All that glitters is not gold. EDITED to change to "glitters" - the more common form of the expression.

I don't find using "All" in those sentences natural, aside from the idiomatic "All is well." I would never say "All is great!" if someone asked me how a project was going. Perhaps this is a regional difference.

I can't give any reason other than that a native speaker would always use "everything" and never use "all".

Incidentally, we'd say, "Everything about it is fine/ great/ wonderful etc."

We'd only use, "Everything is fine, etc." in answer to a question like, "How are things going?"

If asked, say, "How do you like your new car?", we'd reply, "Everything about it is great."

And look, the original was "glisters" -- I've been saying "glitters" for years!
