Exclamation Should I drop the which in this sentence?

    Is this sentence correct?

"This is the only component which were interested in assess"

Or should I drop the which?

"This is the only component were interested in assess

You do not have to but you can. You can drop the relative pronoun in reduced relative clauses if it functions as the direct object of the verb.

[We] [are interested in] [which]. = SVO

You need 'which' to join the relative clause"we are interested in assessing" but correct the verb "assess' to gerund form or use inifinitive form 'to assess' in place of 'in assessing'.

In defining relative clauses the relative pronoun is often left out if it is the object of the verb.
