I guess some teachers would mark it as correct, but not all.
I've already written my logics:
(I what??- Example: He is older than I thought
)
Many other users (I'm talking about these forums) agree that just I is not enough.
Unfortunately, I cannot find the thread...
P.S. Then some guys could say "Tom is 30 years." is correct as well, but it is wrong, because you need to add the "old"!
Cheers!
There's a limit to which you can apply your logics [sic] to language.
Being able to say "He is older than I" does not imply being able to say "Tom is 30 years".
Being able to omit "that" in a reduced clause does not imply that you can choose any word in a sentence to leave out (as your logic might lead you to claim).
Being able to leave out the 'You' in the imperative sentence "You work!" does not imply that you can leave out the word 'work'.
Your logics are invalid.
'Elder' is used attributively- there may be the occasional example of it being used predicatively, but such examples would be very rare.
No, just not said.
How about:
In terms of years existent, the numerical value of his exceeds that of mine.
When considering age in relation to him and me, his is the greater.
He has seniority over me in tenancy upon this mortal plane.
His age diminished or mine enhanced would eventually bring them to parity.
His age diminished or mine enhanced would eventually bring them to parity.
I will memorize this version.![]()
