    Re: for/ since

My friend has been here ( since - for ) 10:30 am

We use 'since' when it is at the beginning of a point in time.
    I've been here since 10:30.
    I've been here since July.
    I've been here since 2008.

We use 'for' to express a duration of time.
I've been here for 2 hours.
I've been here for 10 days.
I've been here for 2 years.
