In English, there are three structures of sentences: simple, compound, and complex. Is the compound complex sentence recognized as a grammatical sentence structure in a category of its own? Are there other basic sentence structures which I have neglected?
- simple sentence (= one independent clause)
- compound sentence (= two independent clauses)
- complex sentence (= one indep and one dep clauses)
- compound complex (= two indep and at least one dep clauses)
