    Mary took three weeks

    Dear all,

    Is it alright to say, "Mary took three weeks to finish reading the book"?

    I found this sentence in a grammar book, but it seems to better to say, "It took Mary three weeks to finish reading the book".

    I'd appreciate any advice.
