    is this good English

I was wondering if the following sounds OK in English:

"The only way for you to succeed in achieving good communication skills is to try to build them around restraint and respect for others."

You should be more specific, what do you ask?:

Does your sentence sound natural to a native-speaker?
    or
    Is your sentence grammatical?

To me, succeed is redundant. And I'd use to built on, so as to say that restraint and respect become a foundation.
