    tomfool

Is this word used? Is it British and/or American? Can I say: "I don't want to make a tomfool of myself"? If so, is it anyhow different from "I don't want to make a fool of myself"?
    Thanks.

    Re: tomfool

    Largely UK.

    Online Etymology Dictionary

I would not expect anyone to refer to themselves as a tomfool except facetiously.
