I am writing to ask the following:
1. Typical Olmec are features jaguar, thick-lipped warrors and goatee bearded men. Often jaguar and human characteristics are combined in were-jaguar babies and children.
--What does "were-jaguar babies" mean?
2. They were probably the first muralists and cave painters in Mexico, and also produced statues in jade.
--What does "statues" in jade mean?
were-jaguar = half huamn, half jaguar (click here for a picture http://www.museum.cornell.edu/HFJ/handbook/hb161.html )
Statues- sculpture of a human or animal figure
