    Difference between the following sentences

    what does each statement indicate:
    1.I am going to sleep.
    &
    2.I am going for sleep.

    Just speaking as a native, I would use your first sentence to indicate that I was going to bed/sleep in the evening.
    The second sentence however, 'I am going for a sleep'. I would use this one in regards to a mid-afternoon nap.

    Of course, that maybe just how I use the language, others may say something completely different.

    As far as I know they mean the same in Indian English. I have heard "I am going for sleep" used frequently in India to mean "I am going to sleep".
