    yak

"We came here with less than $100 between the both of us. I'd have came here on a yak, baby, to let you know how I feel"

What is the meaning of "yak" here. I doubt it is an oxen!!!

I searched and I find also that may mean alcohol, but i doesn't uit the context.

Does it have any other meaning?

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: yak

Are you sure it's "I'd have came"? Maybe "I'd have to come" or "I'd have come"?
It can't be an oxen. Oxen is a plural form of ox. Yes, I think it must be about a bovine. But I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean.

    Re: yak

    Ok, thanks.

They are two sisters in the program "Bank of Hollywood" where people come and ask a group of panelists for some money to achieve a certan dream. Those 2 girls wanted $61 thousand dollars t build a restaurant to help their ver poor family and their sick brother.

When one of the panelists asked her what does this mean to you, she said:

"Let me tell you something. We came here with less than $100 between the both of us. We scraped it off the ground. You hear me? But it was worth it. I'd have came here on a yak, baby, to let you know how I feel. You understand? I love my family with all my heart"

    Thanks.

    Re: yak

So it is just an animal? I just don't understand what she means by coming on a yak to the program!

I thought it has a deeper meaning or something.

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: yak

Sometimes the obvious meaning is the correct one. It is dangerous to try and read too much into a statement.

What the girl is saying is that they were so desperate to win that they would even have come by riding on a slow-moving Himalayan animal to have the chance.
