(2) Here are two sentences that may help you to understand the difference: (a) Mona came to the United States specially to learn English. = that is the only reason why she came here; (b) George came to the United States especially to learn English. = that is the most important reason, but he also has other reasons (he wants to visit Hollywood, say hello to some penpals, etc.).
