Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?

I admitted myself beaten.

This, I admit, is true.

You must admit her statement to be doubtful.

admit = acknowledge

The accused admitted his guilt to the police.

The boy admitted to stealing the apples.

The employee admitted stealing the money.

The clerk admitted (to the police) that he had taken the jewels.

He admitted to his complicity in the crime.

admit = confess

He was admitted to the bar.

She was admitted to the university.

Only 100 boys are admitted to this school every year.

admit = allow, allow to enter, accept, aprove

The key admits to the house.

admit = give access to

The manager admitted him to the theater.

The question admits of no delay.

admit = allow

The theatre admits only 200 persons.

His conduct admits of no complaint.

I agree with all except the first one which sounds odd.
