    Noun and Preposition!

My question is pretty simple I guess- is this part of grammar something one has to learn or is theer a rule to what preposition may follow after a noun?

    For example:

we are in need for ....

is this just something that one says and no special pattern to it?

    Thanks!!!!!!

It's "in need of" and no, there is no rule.
