    Smile Guide to Preposition

    Dear Teachers,

I have something to share with you.

Certain verbs are always followed by a certain preposition, just as the "to" always follows the verb "guide" in the sentence below:

    1. An usher guided me to my seat.

However, sometimes I realize that it is not always the case. For example:

    2. These philosophical views serve as a guide in life.

In the case of second sentence, "in" has to be used to mean "during" one's life.

In fact, each prepositional verb can pair with every preposition, each pair just carries different meaning.

Correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks.

In #2 "guide" is a noun, not a verb.
