Narrow refers to small, little, or long item that is not wide, like a road that is not wide. On a narrow road there are very few options on how to drive on it. If it is busy, you might not even be able to travel the road without getting in an accident.

Things that might prevent the escape cause a narrow road, a slim chance of escape, little possibility of escape.

I better escape now before I stick my foot in my mouth.
