    word usage

    The government announced that it would ________ water from the krishna river.

    a.discharge
    b.pour
    c.purchase
    d.release
    e.procure

    a and d - both sounds good.can someone please clarify why release is the right word(if it is really) :)

    This is a hard question that requires real-world context to know the right answer. Without knowing about the dam, etc., they could all be right except for B.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
