    Is "NG" an acceptable abbreviation?

The abbreviation "NG" for "not good" or "no good" is often used in Japan.
Is this acceptable (easily understandable) to native speakers of English?

It's meaningless to me! When I see NG I think of 'National Guard'!

In British English, you will see NBG (= No Bloody Good) used sometimes colloquially.
