    correct this sentence

We will entertain the kids with a shortened version of “The Drive” while the eggs are being hid.

The above sentence is going in our church bulletin and it was sent to me via another person. It ends with the word "hid" which I don't like. Is it actually correct?

    Re: correct this sentence

'Hid' is one of two correct past participle forms of 'hide' according to dictionaries.
    Perhaps it's more formal?

Of course it is grammatical but it does not make any sense. After all what is the logic behind hiding the eggs from the kids? I think it could be replaced by ‘made’ or ‘prepared’ or ‘cooked

Use "are being hidden" or "while we hide the eggs".

Why is hidden better than hid?

It's better because it is much more usual as the past participle of "to hide".

    Re: correct this sentence

Wow. I was shocked to find that it was listed as a participle form. Merriam Webster doesn't list that form, and that's my default dictionary, but it was in a few others.

Is the real concern with the form of the verb hid/hidden, or why people would hide eggs?
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
