    I would say that 'supporter' in English isn't really used to mean 'someone who supports emotionally' which is what this person wants to talk about.

    'Supporter' is normally used for someone who advocates a specific purpose/thing, or is a follower of a specific purpose/thing. So to me, 'supporter for my mum' doesn't sound natural.

    'He is a supporter of the Communist movement.'
    'She is a supporter for the National Autistic Society.
    'He is a Manchester United football team supporter.
