It really depends on context. How do you want to use it?

I want to use it correctly

E.g. 'an idea of how to do it' 'an idea on how to do it'
    They are both ok?

For example: "I have an idea of how to do it".

Note: In the negative, the "of" is rarely used:

"I have no idea how to do it."

    Thank you bhaisahab, emsr2d2.

Another example:"Can you give me instructions on how to do it?"
    'of' can't be there?
There are any rules for it?

Not really no, prepositions in English just have to be learned as you go along.
