*not a teacher*

Hello,

'a blessing in disguise' is a blessing, something good, that you don't recognize as such at first.

So when you experience some sort of misfortune, it will of course hit you as something bad, but later on, you might think positively of it, because it may have set things in motion that actually worked <correct tense here?> to your benefit.

***** NOT A TEACHER *****

Good morning.

(1) This is a popular saying.

(2) It means that something "bad" might really be something "good."

(3) Here is an example. It is reportedly a true story.

(a) Many years ago, a woman in New York wanted to take a ship to England.

(b) They refused to sell her a ticket because of her race. (Many years ago, people of certain races were not allowed to do certain things).

(c) The woman went home and cried, cried, cried.

(d) The next morning she opened the newspaper and discovered that the ship had sunk that night!!!

May I ask whom you are asking? If you are asking me, I'm an old man who doesn't even know what "msn" means.

I do enjoy your questions, and am happy to join other members in answering them in/on this forum.

Have a nice day!
