i have a question. Is community plural or singular? In which form does it take the article 'the' and is it the same as society?

1. Community is singular an communities are plural.
2. Society is singular and societies are plural.
3. The meaning of the two words is sometimes the same,
and sometimes different. E.g.: the Society of Jesus and the Jewish community.

However, you will see phrases like 'the community are', especially in British English.

When you are talking about more than one distinct community.

The communities of Suburb A and Suburb B are both happy about the planned extension of Big City's Regional Rail Line.

The Jewish and Catholic communities were both outraged by comments made last week.
