    correct phrase

My school is a long way from my house,
My school is far from my house.

Are both phrases correct? I was told by a friend of mine that I should us 'a long way from'.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: correct phrase

My school is far from my house.
My school is a long way from my house.

Often times I am surprised by your friends' advice.

Both can be used to describe a long distance. Normally one prefers the second. Your friend’s advice can be appropriate , if distance of the school from your house is relatively more than average or usual.
To put this in a simple way:
My school is a long way from my house= My school is far away from my house.
