more directly like this:

he attributes his improvement to having been taking Robaxcet medication.

doesn't it get better?

Well, to me, this is weird use of language.

Headaches improving or getting better...

Doesn't it mean that his headaches have got better (of him). i.e., they did not let him do anything due to being severe.

I think that this should be:

His hedaches have got/ become less severe (with the passage of time) and he attributes his improvement to (the fact that he has been taking) / (taking) Robaxcet medication.
