    What question is appropriate?

    Dear all,

If the answer is "It's Moday, April 12th," what do you think is the question?

If it's "What's the date today?", the anwer will be "It's 12th of April".

Is there any good question to ask both the date and the day of the week?

What about "What day is it today?" or What is today?"?

    Thanks!

    OP

Unfortunately language does not follow that logic. But rather it is very flexible.

If the answer is "It's Monday, April 12th" the question could have been "What's the date today". Or it could have been any of the following:
    Which day is today?
Do you know which day is today?
    Do you know the date?
Which day of the week is today?
Which day of the week and of the month is it?
    Which date is today?

It is not mandatory that when someone asks "What's the date today?" the answer can be only "It's 12th of April" . The answer could as well be
    "It's Monday, April 12th."
    "It's May 4th."
    "I don't know."
