how many syllable are there in each word ?
contamination, noxious, nature, environment, harm, safety?
check my answers :
harm ... just one
noxious, nature .. two
safety , environment .. three
contamination.. five
am I wrong somewhere ?

You are not wrong, but some people would pronounce "safety" with two syllables "safe - ty".

And environment gets four from me. en -vigh-ern-ment.
Although the "vigh-ern" is pretty close to being one mushed together.

Well, it's definitely not British English. Safe-ty definitely only has 2 syllables in the UK.

And I agree with the previous opinion about environment:

En-vie-ren-ment = 4 syllables.

Do you normally pronounce the middle 'n' in environment? I don't normally prononce that part!

I agree its 4 syllables though :)

Yes, I agree to four syllables for "environment" (with the "n" sounded) but I have frequently heard it with three or three and a half. I have frequently heard "safety" with three or two and a half.

I like that "3 and a half" as the way to describe "environment."

But I can't even imagine "safety" as anything other than "safe - tee."
