    Question use or uses ??

Can anyone help with a discussion my colleague and I are having?

Which is considered to be correct and why?

On Wednesdays my class uses the gym.

    or

On Wednesdays my class use the gym.

    Thank you in anticipation.

If they're all doing the same thing at the same time (the whole class is there together), then "uses". See this link for a pretty clear explanation:

    The Collective Noun

It depends on whether you see the class as a unit or as individual people.
    They are both correct.
