Hello,
I would like to know if I need a with in these sentences:
He cannot know this because he is too busy with doing his work.
Or also:
I cannot talk to you right now because I'm too busy with writing my essay.

No, you don't need "with".

No, you don't need "with".
I'm sure I've heard it used with 'with', but it's either unnecessary or wrong. There is a 'with' in the similar expression 'busy with something'; I imagine 'busy with doing his essay' is a conflation of the two - 'busy doing his essay' and 'busy with his essay'.
