    What is the difference between following and follows; where to use them.

    Here's a start.

    1) "follow(s)" is a verb.
    His dog follows him wherever he goes.

    2a) "following" is a noun.
    Following is easier than leading.
    The team has a large following.

    2b) "following" is an adjective.
    He returned the following day.

    2c) "following" is a continuous-tense verb.
    The dog is following him to school.
