I checked the internet and I found that the correct use is The Bronx. Why is it like this? I mean there's Brooklyn, Manhatan, Queens, but "the" Bronx.
Is the zero article ever used with Bronx? I mean
I live in Bronx,
I live in Manhatan etc,
or it is always used with definite article?
According to Not So Useless Facts:
A Dane working for the Dutch, Jonas Bronck became the first European to settle the land just north of Manhattan Island. The profitable farm he established led to the area being referred to as The Bronck's, which was later shortened to the Bronx.
