At least three threads started by sophiehhrr disappeared from the forums, what happened?
Some of them contained interesting discussions on ellipsis.

I'm not a teacher, so please consider any advice I give in that context.
I believe that people who make a habit of deleting threads should be banned. It doesn't seem fair that a poster can delete follow-up posts by people who have put time and effort into giving comprehensive answers and lessons that others might be interested in. Sure, they get their homework done and leave no trace of it, but that's never been the purpose of the site, as I understand it.
I have undeleted the threads she deleted and sent her a message. I agree with you, Raymott; a forum simply doesn't work that way and it's not fair to people who answer and the discussions may benefit others later.

Thanks Tdol and Red5.
Thanks to the seriousness of the site administrators the problem is solved.
I am glad to have those threads back.
Since that thread is already closed I feel I should post here some suggestions:
I think maybe it is not necessary to tacitly turn the deleting threads ability off for all users.
Some rules could be established. For instance it could be possible to delete a thread that:
i) has been viewed less than X times
ii) has no subscribers or has less than X subscribers
iii) is not more than X hours/days old
iv) has never been replied
v) has only one poster (the thread starter himself)
Or any combination of the above. Naturally this would be completely transparent for the users.
These are just suggestions. I am sure they are not difficult to implement based on the already existing tables of the UsingEnglish database.
