    the wood or the woods?

1- Some people prefer living with wild animals in ................. rather than tyrants.
    a) the wood
    b) wood
    c) the woods
    d) wooden
    I will choose the woods.
But the wood also means a small forest. Am I right?

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

"the wood" is a place known to the speaker and the listener
"The woods"' Could be more general or with less defined borders.
