    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    Good morning, Moniki.

    (1) You have asked a VERY difficult question for which there may be NO answer.

    (2) Prepositions are idiomatic (That is, native speakers decide how to use them in a certain way. Many times there is no logic.)

    (3) In California, people stand "in" line; in New York they stand "on" line.

    (4) In the United States, you live ON Maple Street; in the United Kingdom, you live IN Maple Street.

    (5) ride ON a bus / ride ON the train, but ride IN the train car, carriage/ ride ON a ship, but ride IN a small boat/ fly ON an airplane, but fly IN a small private airplane.

    (6) In some cases (but NOT all), size seems to play a part.

    (7) Sometimes it's a personal choice: I have read newspapers that have said: Mr. X flew in/on his personal jet to Paris.

    (8) To make matters even more complicated, some people say, "I slept IN the bus" if the bus was parked all night and did not move.

    Thank you.
