    not in questions

    Hello,

What is the common place of not in questions?

I'm reading Pride and Prejudice where not comes right after a verb. But in an audio-book the narrator pronounces not after the subject.
    Example:

Do not you want to know who has taken it? (in the book)
Do you not want to know who has taken it? (in the audio-book)

Is the way of pronunciation used in the book out of date?

    Thank you in advance!

In modern English we would use "Do you not want..."
