    Conditional Present

Hi, I'm having trouble determining which form is correct:

    For example:

    - If the world was run by idiots...
    - If the world was ran by idiots...

I think the first is correct? If the second is not correct, what modifications may make it correct? (When would using ran be acceptable in the sentence context?)

    Many thanks!
