    the two days

    Dear teachers,

    Please read the sentence:

The two days it took us to make the return trip were filled with new experiences.

I am confused by the structure. Could you please kindly explain which of the following sentence is correct?

    a. The two days that it took us to make the return trip were filled with new experiences.
    b. It took us two days to make the return trip and the two days were filled with new experiences.
But grammar in "b" is polished.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.

    Jiang

    Re: the two days

Both are correct and convey the same idea.

That period of time was filled with new experiences.
That period of time = The two-day period during which we made the trip.
That period of time = Those two days
That period of time = The two days [that] it took us to make the return trip
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
