Trees that can grow up to 20m (66ft) are to be planted in eight sites across a Berkshire town.

The trees, which are already 12m (40ft) tall, are due to arrive shortly in Slough and will be planted in January, depending on the weather.
The sites were mostly chosen by local people at an event earlier this year. The trees, which will be guy-roped for support and will have a fence around them, will replace a cedar that had to be felled near the town's Tesco store.

The above is originally from this site,

... 'guy rope' is quite common in Br English. Most tents have guy ropes. I've also met the term 'guy line', I think. Given the context (supporting saplings), they probably were made of wire, but the natural term for me would be 'guy rope'.
