    long lines

    "THE BUDGET OVERRUNS
WERE FORGOTTEN BY THE SUMMER THOUGH
WHEN "THE WIZARD OF OZ" PREMIERED
TO LONG LINES AND GLOWING REVIEWS."

They were speaking about the high production of the movie, then said that line.

So now what is the meaning of "long lines"

    Thanks.

    Re: long lines

Remember that in the US, we wait in lines, not in queues. That may have been part of the problem. I bet if you had read "long queues" you would not have been confused.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
