    frandango

MGM suspended Garland from work, and while trying to wheel her car into the studio to collect her own personal stuff, a man stopped her as she 's not working with them now. She told him then:

"You know honey,we've done this frandango for so many years. I'm not trying to get into a film, i just need to get my own personal stuff"

I know that "frandago" is a courtship dance, but I can't get what she means here by "We've done this frandango for so many years"!!

    Thanks a lot.

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    Good afternoon, Maiabulela.

    (1) May I respectfully suggest that the "correct" spelling is "fandango."

    (2) I checked the Web, and one site said that because the fandango

has such extravagant (fancy) features, it is sometimes used as a synonym

    for a quarrel.

    (3) Maybe Ms. Garland meant something like:

Listen, darling, we (the security guards and she) are used to having a

quarrel of this kind every time I want in, but you do not

want to let me in. I don't know much about her career, but I

hear she was "temperamental." So she may have been suspended many

times -- meaning that she had gone through this routine of "I want to get

my things & I promise to leave without causing a problem" many times.

    Have a nice day!

Thanks a lot for the very clear explanation.
