put on a white sheet = repent in public

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

I don’t see why I should stand in a white sheet for something I didn’t do.

put (stand) on a white sheet = repent in public

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

Never heard that expression but sounds reasonable.
