    word order

    Hello, I need help with this sentence. Can you bring me the knife, please? or Can you bring the knife for me, please? Thanks a lot!

    Either is okay, but "to" me would be better than "for" me.

    I am more likely to use the "bring me" form.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
