    the decision....

    Hi,

Which word would you use to complete the next sentence?

The decision.......should be done is up to the director.

    a. for what
    b. about to what
    c. as to what

    thank you

My initial instinct was that I would choose none of them. I would have gone for "about what" had it been there!

However, it's not and we only have these three to choose from. Well, a and b are incorrect. We don't say "The decision for...", and we don't put the infinitive after "about", which leaves c which does, after all, mean the same as my first answer!

    Re: the decision....

    Sigh.

Why do they bother teaching this?

The director should [be the one to] decide what to do.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
