    use of had been

    Please correct this
    She had been coming to my place to teach me a few days before my exams...(I am saying this statement in present tense)

    I don't unnderstand your reference to "present tense". You have used past perfect continuous/progressive and in that usage it is usually followed by a "when/but/however etc." phrase such as "She had been coming to my place........., when I received a phone call that her car was out of gas."

    Sorry I meant I am saying this sentence at present to some one else
