    feel a tug on the ribbon

    Does anybody know the meaning of " feel a tug on the ribbon"?????

    It means you feel someone pulling/jerking the ribbon.

    A tug here is a noun here and means a strong pull or a pulling force (dict.).

    more examples:

    I felt a tug in my heart when I saw the old person lying on the street.
    Mr Wislon gave his dog a quick tug on the leash.
    Mary hates boys in her class. They love to tug (v.) on her pigtails.
