I can't get past what we had

This is my first time here so I apologize if I do not know the rules. Could you please tell me what that means when an ex-boyfriend tells me this line? Thank you. my email address is coffeefixgirl@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Hi and welcome coffee girl! Glad to see you join our forum!

I can't get past what we had

It sounds to me like there was something unpleasant in your past between the two of you and it's still causing him grief(?)/bad feelings(?)/hurt(?), etc. He doesn't seem to be able to go past that stage and just continue on with the relationship.

...or perhaps the relationship reached the level where there is nothing else to look forward to, he can't see it going anywhere.

    I hope this helps.
